WITH so many internal and outside issues capable of undermining the economy it is hardly surprising that Irish economists differ sharply about the current outlook.

There’s light at the end of the Budget

During the week, two economists Dan McLaughlin of Bank of Ireland and Jim Power of Friends First took fundamentally differing views on the economy.

McLaughlin said some of the talk about the national finances was hysterical and Power saw this as a jibe at him hit back with a warning that the economy was under threat from its own slowdown and a lack of inward investment.
