Immigrant mortgages soar

IMMIGRANT mortgage approvals have increased by 81% over the last six months, according to mortgage broker, Homeloans. This is double the figure for the same period last year.

Homeloans director Sean Curry said the positive contribution by immigrant workers is reflected in the boom in mortgage approvals.

Recent figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) estimate the immigration flow into Ireland in the year preceding April 2005 at 70,000 - the highest since the CSO’s migration estimates began in 1987.
