ISEQ down marginally on mixed day

On a mixed day for the European markets, the ISEQ index closed marginally lower, down 4.37 points at 4716.01, despite gains in early trading.

In the financials, Anglo Irish Bank fell from Thursday’s all time high, losing 30c to close at €11.30. With over 4.8 million shares traded, Allied Irish Bank advanced 25c to €12.35, while Bank of Ireland eased 4c to €10.30.

Following the First Active EGM, where shareholders voted in favour of the acquisition by Royal Bank of Scotland, the stock closed 1c lighter at €6.14.
