Jetmagic halts bookings on proposed Paris route

START-UP airline Jetmagic has stopped taking bookings on its proposed Paris route because it has been unable to secure landing slots at Charles de Gaulle Airport.

One hundred passengers who were booked to fly from Cork to Paris with Jetmagic will be accommodated on Aer Lingus flights at no extra cost, a company spokeswoman confirmed last night.

Jetmagic’s Cork/Paris route was scheduled to commence operations this week but a start date has been put back until the company can secure the morning landing and take-off slots it requires.

“We are hopeful that we will get information in the coming days about the slots but we are determined to get the morning slots we believe will serve our customers best,” the spokeswoman said.

Jetmagic had planned a three day a week service from Cork to Paris.

“We apologise sincerely to our customers for any inconvenience they may have suffered,” the spokesperson added.

No other Jetmagic routes are affected by the administrative difficulties the company is encountering at CDG airport.

Cork based Jetmagic has secured a significant portion of the market since it commenced operations and is flying close to 12,500 passengers a month to destinations all over Europe on its Brazilian built Embraer regional jets.

Earlier this month Cork’s independent airline announced new services to Edinburgh, Liverpool and London City.

The company which was founded by its chief operating officer Paddy Raftery already employs more than 100 people and prior to the Paris hiccup was on course to make profits this year almost a year ahead of schedule.
