SUPERQUINN’S 4,000-plus staff want a stake in the company and they also want a goodwill payment in recognition of their contribution to the type of service the store is renowned for.

Mandate general secretary designate John Douglas, whose union represents most of the workers, outlined the strategy yesterday following a meeting of representatives from all of the stores.

Mr Douglas said the concern of the workers is not the immediate outlook for jobs, although 400 jobs have been slashed in the past two years as it tackled its cost base.
