Elan keeps gaining on test reports

THE ISEQ index remained relatively unchanged yesterday, on a day with little significant corporate or macro news, slipping 0.71 of a point to close at 4264.00.

Elan Corporation continued on from Thursday’s gains, after positive reports on the company’s Alzheimer’s treatment tests, adding 15.4% to finish at 4.86. Kerry Group climbed 45c to 12.75 while Greencore added 9c to 2.90.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland dropped 30c to 11.30, Allied Irish Bank rose 20c to 13.53 while Irish Life and Permanent was 3c stronger at 10.43.
