Trade surplus hits lowest in six years

IRELAND’S seasonally adjusted trade surplus fell to its lowest level in nearly six years in February as exports slipped 13% from January’s record high, according to provisional data issued by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

At €2.06bn, Ireland’s February preliminary trade surplus - the lowest since July 2000 - was 38% lower than January’s €3.3bn.

January’s trade surplus was the highest surplus since March 2004.
