It possibly saves up to 300 jobs from a group that has slashed 1,238 jobs since 2003 and which could have taken the job loss numbers well over 1500.

Either figure is a staggering blow to the North Cork area and before Jerry Henchy took the axe to the workforce, we said he would be either the most revered or the most despised man in the region when this was all over.
