Tesco set to expand in China

TESCO chief executive Terry Leahy has ruled out making significant acquisitions in the US and said the company is likely to expand in China, according to an interview published yesterday.

Describing the US as a "competitive market", he said: "We will have to scale up in China, it's such a big place that you either have to ease out or commit quite a bit."
