Financial shares feel brunt of losses

THE Irish market finished the week on a negative note, with the financials feeling the brunt of the losses. The ISEQ closed at 4334.33, falling 21.94 points.

Allied Irish Bank and Bank of Ireland continued lower with a 11c and 13c fall, respectively. Anglo Irish Bank followed suit with a 12c decline to 8.00, while Irish Life and Permanent was unchanged at 9.80.

Elan continued its slide following Thursday’s news and a broker downgrade yesterday. The shares closed at 3.93, a fall of 7c. Positive on the day were CRH, closing at 15.50 while Ryanair recovered 5c to finish the week at 5.90.
