BDO sets up tax task force for construction industry

It said that as the Revenue Commissioners will be focusing a quarter of their audit this year on the sector is was setting up a Tax Task Force to help clients.

BDO said it will hold a series of workshops that will deal specifically with the taxation issues faced by the construction industry.

BDO partner Ivor Feerick said: “We have created this task force to assist our clients in engaging with the Revenue in an effective and efficient manner.

“We find that this facilitates an early settlement of any issues arising as well as helping to minimise any tax, interest and penalties which may be due.”

BDO said that as many firms in the sector are small they usually have limited experience of dealing directly with Revenue.

The tax task force said it will be bringing a “proactive approach” to the sector.

The nationwide series of roadshows will be followed by direct assistance to clients, tailored workshops and engagement with Revenue inspectors on behalf of clients.
