Eurozone inflation below target rate

The annual inflation rate in the eurozone fell sharply in January, to 1.9% from 2.4% in December, according to a revised estimate by EU statistics agency Eurostat.

The fall brought eurozone inflation below the 2% target set by the European Central Bank for the first time since March 2004. Eurostat had originally estimated January inflation at 2.1%.
