GOVERNMENT plans to curb inflation by removing the ban on below cost selling are a red herring, small business lobby group ISME said yesterday.

The group said scrapping the ban would lead to unfair competition that would be counter-productive and drive small retailers out of business.

ISME dismissed suggestions there was a need to take strong action to address rising consumer prices.
