DUBLIN will continue to capture foreign investment unless swift input is made into infrastructure outside the capital, according to the head of one of the country’s leading business organisations.

Brendan Butler, director of ICT Ireland, which represents Ireland’s hi-tech sector, says jobs announcements like that of eBay will continue to go to Dublin until other areas build up their infrastructure, such as roads, telecommunications and energy capacity.

Another issue affecting investment decisions, he said, is that only three of the seven universities are located outside Dublin. Mr Butler aid this was important given the requirements for research and development.
