Mosney profits close to €1m mark

Accounts for Mosney Irish Holidays, which have just been filed at the Companies Registration Office (CRO) show pre-tax profits rose to €955,728 in the year to end October 2004. The figure is up from €761,575 in 2003.

Turnover for the year increased from €8.3m to €8.4m. Almost all Mosney’s turnover is generated from the Government.

The company paid out nearly €64,000 in dividends to its shareholders, roughly the same as 2003.

“Our arrangement with the Department of Justice to accommodate asylum seekers on a full-board basis is in its fourth year and we can now accommodate over 800 residents all year round” chairman Phelim McCloskey said.

He added that during the year the village had undergone further refurbishment.

At the year end the company’s cash balances fell from €807,225 to €429,926.

The number of people employed by the company was up one to 83, with the wages and salary bill coming to €2.63m.

Directors’ fees and salaries rose by almost a quarter to €386,756. Mr McCloskey and his wife Elizabeth own the Co Meath facility.

The former Butlins village was leased to the Department of Justice back in 2000.
