Eurotunnel in crisis

THE operator of the Channel Tunnel between Britain and France could lose its chairman at the company’s annual general meeting on Friday, according to weekend reports.

Eurotunnel, whose chief executive resigned last week and is suffering from hefty ongoing interest payments on its €9.4 billion debt, had its entire board ousted at last year’s AGM.

The company declined to comment on reports that former executives were planning a heave against Jacques Gounon, who took the non-executive chairman’s position in December.
