Government dithering ‘costs tourism’

MUNSTER is losing out on millions of tourists because of government dithering on reducing flying costs, Ryanair claimed yesterday.

Government dithering ‘costs tourism’

Speaking at a fundraising lunch in the Maryborough House Hotel, Cork, for St Luke’s nursing home, Ryanair deputy chief executive Michael Cawley said: “Cork Airport could get new routes to France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Scandinavia from Ryanair if the Government stopped dithering and did something about the cost of flying into Ireland.

“Aer Rianta continues to be an inefficient, gold-plated airport monopoly. This is clearly evidenced by the fact that the cost of the new terminal in Cork is running at six times the cost of equivalent facilities in Europe,” fumed Mr Cawley.
