Overseas visits rise for November

THE number of visits abroad made by Irish residents in November rose by more than 100,000 on a year-on-year basis, according to latest figures issued yesterday by the Central Statistics Office.

Irish people, on aggregate, travelled overseas on 436,300 occasions, up from a figure of 335,400 in the same month in 2004.

The impressive figures have been attributed to the school autumn mid-term break falling slightly later than its usual October date.
