Beef exports to Britain expected to fall

IRISH beef exports to Britain are expected to decline by around 10% this year, according to the latest Bord Bia predictions.

This follows the return of British cow beef to the food chain in that market following the lifting of an over-thirty month (OTM) BSE control rule that banned older cattle from entering the food chain.

However, British prime cattle supplies are in decline and there is restricted access to the market for imports from Brazil following foot and mouth outbreaks in the South American country.
