Market retreats for fourth day

THE ISEQ index ended in negative territory for the fourth successive day. The Dublin market closed down 46.16 to 6096.09 on a quiet day with little in the way of news flow.

Once again the financials lost ground. AIB gave up 27c at €15.63. Bank of Ireland shed 23c to end at €12.68. In the second line, Anglo-Irish and Irish Life & Permanent remained unchanged at €20.00 and €14.50 respectively.

In the construction sector, giant CRH dropped 18c to end the day at €22.25. Grafton fell 26c following yesterday's results. Kingspan gave up 7c, while McInerney held its own to end the day level at €8.58.
