O’Reilly set to lead financial services authority

IRELAND’S new financial services tsar, Liam O’Reilly will take up duty as chief executive of the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority (IFSRA) in the new year.

IFSRA interim authority chairman Brian Patterson yesterday named Mr O’Reilly, 55, as chief executive after the appointment was approved by Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy.

Mr Patterson disclosed there was significant interest in the post.
