United Drug bucks shares bloodbath

MARKETS across Europe all finished in the red yesterday, and the ISEQ index was no different, shedding 119.60 to 5308.16.

Shares in Elan were hit for €2.36, closing at €17.50. United Drug bucked the trend, up 4c to e3.00 after announcing it had raised $102m from a private placing.

Budget carrier Ryanair saw it's value tumble 25c to €4.70 following it's latest spat, this time involving BAA. The main financials were all lower. Allied Irish Bank shed 17c to €12.20, while Bank of Ireland slipped to €10.68. Anglo Irish Bank shed 15c to €12.83, while Irish Life & Permanent fell to €12.26.
