Mortgage lending rates up 26% for January

THE rate of mortgage lending remained relatively flat in January, according to figures published by the Central Bank yesterday.

The bank, which has been concerned by the surge in borrowing, said there are signed that the “growth in residential mortgage lending may have peaked.”

The bank said mortgage lending increased by 26% in January compared to the same month last year.
