CRH profit reaches €1.25bn

BUILDING materials giant CRH says profits hit a record €1.25 billion last year.

In a trading update to shareholders, the company said it has seen a good year in the United States despite higher costs, and enjoyed strong trading in its European divisions. As a result, profits will be at least 14% higher than in 2004 at around €1.25bn.

"Our operations responded well to the challenge of higher energy costs during 2005 and ongoing recovery of these through price improvements and efficiency measures remains a priority for the year ahead," the company said.
