Service providers can look at email

Internet service providers who store and transmit email may access those messages without violating federal wiretap law, a US appeals court has ruled.

The three-judge panel in Boston split 2-1 in ruling that since email is stored in a computer server before transmission, companies are not intercepting a wire transmission if they access customer email.
