ISEQ slides as Elan shares plunge

THE ISEQ index closed down 47.38 points to 5266.74 yesterday.

AIB gained 2c to €12.47 after releasing interim results which reported better than expected pre-tax profits for the first half of the year. Bank of Ireland slipped 19c to €10.57 and Anglo Irish Bank shed 11c to close at €12.99.

Ryanair announced it has launched eight new routes, to commence later this year. Shares slipped 9c to €4.58.
