Markets tumble after London attacks

MARKETS across Europe tumbled yesterday following the attacks in London. The Irish market plunged by over 200 points shortly after the events unfolded, but clawed back some losses in afternoon trading to finish at 6480.12, a drop of 64.58 points.

Among the main losers on the day were Kerry Group and Jurys Doyle, which lost 50c and 40c. CRH fell 34c to €21.35, while elsewhere in construction Kingspan shed 6c to €10.05 and Grafton Group slipped to €9.00.

Among the financials, AIB gave up 25c to €17.38 while Bank of Ireland finished lower at €13.30. On the upside, Anglo Irish Bank added 10c to €10.35.
