IRISH mobile phone users are paying 55% more than the European average every month.

Ireland’s mobile users paying 55% above EU average

New figures from the industry watchdog ComReg show we spend €48 a month on mobile phones, €17 more than the average across Europe. The lowest charges are in Sweden, where consumers pay €23 a month, while Switzerland holds the record for the highest monthly costs at €49 a month.

The mobile industry claims the high charges are because Irish people use their phones more often, though no figures were produced by ComReg to back up this claim.
