Shares have good start but finish low

SHARES in Dublin were trading ahead for most of the day, but lagged later on to finish slightly lower for a third consecutive day.

The ISEQ slipped 17.52 points to 5184.71.

The main financial stocks were mixed. Bank of Ireland strengthened 14c to €10.79, while Anglo-Irish shed 6c to €12.94. Allied Irish Bank saw 1.43 million shares change hands and closed 16c higher at €12.81.
