Financials push index to new high

SHARES in Dublin continue to rocket, ending the week on a new high. The financials led the charge, pushing the ISEQ index through the 6700 barrier, closing at 6731.69.

Rivals AIB and Bank of Ireland posted gains of 10c and 8c respectively, while Irish Life & Permanent surged to €14.62. Anglo-Irish continued to make headway jumping 27c to €19.95.

With just under 11 million shares traded in Eircom, the company advanced 3c to €2.14. Construction giants CRH also helped buoy the market, strengthening 56c to €22. Grafton climbed 30c and Kingspan closed 28c higher.
