THE Irish market opened the week on a cautious note, on a day with little economic or earnings news.

The ISEQ index closed 12.42 points higher at 4294.82.

Irish Life & Permanent recovered some of last week's losses rising 1.7% to 10.27. Bank of Ireland edged 5c higher to 11.18 ahead of its full year results on Thursday, while Allied Irish Bank fell 7c to 14.18.
