THE development of an all-Ireland energy market is set to move a step closer today.

Spark of light for all-island electricity

The green light for the construction of a second electricity inter-connector, at a cost of up to €140 million, is to be signalled by energy regulators in the North and the republic.

It is hoped an all-island electricity market will bring about reduced bills for both domestic and business users through greater competition.
