Heavyweight stocks in the limelight

THE Irish market continued its good run helped by positive feeling in financial and pharmaceuticals.

ISEQ posted a gain of 50.03 points to 5447.51. News of crude oil prices slipping slightly has helped buoy equity markets.

The main focus of trading was in the heavyweight stocks. Elan added 43c to close at €18.25. Forward momentum of the stock, after last week’s bout of profit-taking, was apparent with a 2.4% rise on the day.
