Electricity choices ‘benefit consumers’

CONSUMER will benefit from higher standards of service and greater efficiency thanks to the opening up of the electricity market, Natural Resources minister Noel Dempsey said yesterday.

Mr Dempsey was speaking ahead of the coming into force of new regulations governing the power market, which take effect today.

“Higher standards of service and efficiency gains will flow from these regulations, which put the electricity customer on a much stronger footing with their rights fully protected,” said the minister.
