IRISH economic know-how will help Europe meet its jobs and growth targets, European Commissioner Charlie McCreevy said yesterday.

The former finance minister, now in charge of running the EU’s single market, promised new efforts to free up retail financial services across Europe.

The financial services sector is lagging behind other retail areas which have gained from the opening up of EU borders more than a decade ago, Mr McCreevy told an international finance conference in Madrid.
