Ahern celebrates Guinness move

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern was the guest of honour at a celebratory event in St James’s Gate brewery yesterday, to mark the expansion of Diageo’s Dublin brewing operations to supply Guinness for the British market.

This results in a 50% increase in production at St James’s Gate, bringing total output at the brewery to 12 million kegs a year, equating to 3 million pints a day.

It is estimated that this increase in output will generate an additional €14 million per annum for the Irish economy.
