THE Financial Services Authority will investigate Premier Foods after the tea and pickle maker delayed telling the City watchdog that some of its products were contaminated.

The Food Standards Agency advised people on Friday not to eat about 350 food products that had been inadvertently contaminated with an illegal dye used to make Worcester sauce.

Premier Foods said the financial impact of recalling the products was negligible seen against annual group sales of about £850 million so the company believed it was not necessary to inform the market.
