IN a move to beef up its customer focus Bank of Ireland has appointed Tony Wyatt director of customer operations.

This is a new position where Mr Wyatt, 56, will have responsibility for retail customer operations in Ireland and Britain.

He starts early September and will report to the chief executive, Brian Goggin.

He will also be a member of the Group Executive Committee.

Tony Wyatt is a former executive director, manufacturing at Abbey National and has held a number of key senior positions in financial services, telecommunications and energy industries, where the emphasis was on responding effectively to customer needs.

He will be having responsibility for implementing changes in customer focus in the retail divisions which is part of the Strategic Group Transformation Programme.

Brian Goggin said: “I am delighted to welcome Tony Wyatt to Bank of Ireland Group as Director, Customer Operations. This is a further significant step in our Strategic Transformation Programme and is core to the changed organisation structure.”

He has a wealth of experience in driving large-scale customer based change in a range of major organisations which he will be using to give the bank a new vital focus on customer driven services, said Mr Goggin.

Mr Wyatt was a partner in Novantas, a management consultancy firm specialising in customer-centric business strategies.

He held a number of other posts including, managing director, operations and technology at NewPower and was also vice president, operations, technology and planning at AT&T.
