One in three businesses have no plans in place to cope with unexpected interruptions to their business, according to a survey by consulting firm IDC.

Almost half of these said this situation would not change in the foreseeable future.

IDC UK Consulting director Duncan Brown said business continuity planning allows companies to keep trading if they lose a critical aspect of their business in the event of a fire at their premises or the sudden loss of key employees.
