US stocks hold solid gains

US stocks held solid gains at noon yesterday, boosted

Around 11:30am ET, the Dow Jones industrial average rose 140.45 to 8,424.54. The Nasdaq composite rallied 43.86 to 1,294.86. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index added 15.84 to 894.99.

Some market watchers said while the monthly jobs report was encouraging, it may not be enough to satisfy market concerns over a stalled economic recovery.
