House of the Week: Popular Airbnb cottage could go in a flash

Judging by the rave reviews it received on Airbnb, this very cute cottage at 2 Cow Lane in the seasidevillage of Ballycotton should not be too difficult to sell. Located within a short walk from a rocky beach, it’s a prettily decorated former fisherman’s cottage which some guests have described as a “a gem by the sea”.

All the reviewers seem to have loved Ballycotton and its beaches, cliff walk, pubs and restaurants.

They also seem to have been very happy with the cuteness and character of thetwo-bed mid-terrace cottage and the fact that it is located so close to the pubs and restaurants they liked so much. One of them was particularly pleased with the fact that she could hear the sound of the waves from her bedroom.

Tasked with selling the cottage, which is new to the market with a guide price of €165,000, Shea Cronin of Cronin Wall Properties sounds just as impressed as the Airbnb guests.

Listing all of Ballycotton’s many attractions, he goes on to describe the cottage, which was renovated 20 years ago and redecorated in recent years, as unique and very charming.

While the property is, as described by former guests, a perfect holiday getaway, Mr Cronin says that much of the interest so far has come from east Cork first-time buyers who are attracted to the Ballycotton lifestyle and areappreciative of pretty the cottage is.

He has, in fact, already secured an offer of the asking price from a first-time buyer.
