Walliams father loses battle with cancer

David Walliams is in mourning after his beloved father lost his battle with liver cancer.

Peter Williams died in hospital before Christmas - after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of the disease only last September.

Since then, 36-year-old Walliams - star of hit TV comedy 'Little Britain' - has spent much time with his bereft mother Kathleen at her home in Surrey, England.

A source close to the family tells British newspaper The Sun: "David and his sister Julie are devastated - as are all the family. But they have been a rock for Kathleen. It was their first Christmas without Peter, but they are a loving family and were all together."

The star had then been due to film the US version of Little Britain this month, but writers' strikes in America have delayed production - allowing the actor to spend more time with his loved ones.
