Liz Truss has insisted the UK’s relationship with the US is still “special” as she seeks to forge closer ties with allies amid heightened threats around the world.

The British prime minister also urged allied nations to ignore Vladimir Putin’s “sabre-rattling” and continue to back Ukraine.
