UK at coronavirus ‘tipping point’ with risk of 50,000 daily cases by mid-October

The UK could see 50,000 Covid-19 cases a day by mid-October and a daily death toll of 200 or more a month later unless urgent action is taken, the UK Government’s chief scientific adviser has warned.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will set out steps to tackle a second wave of coronavirus when he appears before MPs on Tuesday following the stark assessment from Patrick Vallance and England’s chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty.
