Trump reverts to promoting unproven drug as coronavirus treatment
US President Donald Trump has reverted to spreading misinformation about how to combat coronavirus and the credibility of the nation’s leading infectious disease expert.
Mr Trump pushed unproven claims that an anti-malaria drug, hydroxychloroquine, is an effective treatment for Covid-19. But numerous studies have shown that it is not effective and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently withdrew an order that allowed the drug’s use as a emergency treatment for the virus.
