Parents charged in connection with death of eight-month-old baby boy

Two parents have been charged over the death of an eight-month-old baby boy, Greater Manchester Police said.

The couple - a man and a woman who cannot be named for legal reasons - were arrested after the child was rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning from the family home in Rochdale with multiple injuries.

Doctors were unable to save him and he subsequently died.

Police said the man has been charged with murder while the woman was charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

Both have been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
