No deal: Talks between Russia and US fail to reach agreement to end violence in Syria

Talks between the US and Russia have failed to find an agreement to end the violence in Syria.

US Secretary of State John Kerry (pictured) and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spent nine hours discussing the situation but they could not reach a deal.

Speaking afterwards, Mr Kerry said he still hopes a peaceful resolution can be found: "We don't want a deal for the sake of a deal, we wanna have something done that is effective, that works for the people of Syria, that makes the region more stable and secure and that brings us to the table here in Geneva to find a political solution."
