Nine flights to the UK are scheduled to leave Egypt today
It is hoped nine flights will bring back British tourists stranded in Sharem el-Sheikh this afternoon.
Yesterday just eight of 29 scheduled flights were able to leave the Egyptian airport which struggled to cope with increased security measures.
Passengers can only fly with hand-luggage as growing evidence suggests a bomb caused a Russian plane to crash a week ago.
Sean Tipton from the Travel Association ABTA has said efforts are being made to improve the situation.
“The foreign office are working with the Egyptians, making suggestions, for example that we could send over cargo jets to remove that luggage rather than having it sitting at the airport, so that should help that immensely.
“So we are quite optimistic that we will get people who certainly due to fly on Wednesday they should be due home today, a lot of them flew home yesterday.”
