UK Judge rejects new forest mobile home bid by Romany gipsy
A Romany gipsy who wants to pitch a mobile home in the New Forest National Park has lost the latest round of a three-year legal fight.
Robert Whitcher, who is in his early 40s, wants permission to site the mobile home, plus a touring caravan, on land he owns at Brambly Hedge in Landford, Wiltshire.
But a High Court judge, who was told that Mr Whitcher’s family had a long tradition of living in and around the New Forest, today ruled against him.
Mr Justice Dove dismissed Mr Whitcher’s latest appeal after analysing rules relating to national park planning, the provision of gipsy sites and commoners’ rights at a High Court hearing in London.
