Palestinian shot dead by Israeli security forces

A Palestinian man has been shot dead by Israeli security forces at a checkpoint after he was accused of trying to stab a guard.

It has prompted the closure of a key checkpoint in the West Bank as the US Secretary of State John Kerry arrives for peace talks.

John Kerry is meeting the Palestinian President Mahmound Abbas after more than three weeks of Israeli-Palestinian attacks which have killed over fifty people.

Many fear the renewed fighting heralds a third Palestinian intifada or uprising.
